As part of legislation initiated by the Utah Rural Schools Association and passed by the 2014 Utah Legislature, Snow College expanded its offerings of IVC (Interactive Video Conferencing) concurrent enrollment courses statewide. During the 2015-16 school year, Snow will broadcast 85 sections of 40 unique courses available to all Utah high schools which can receive IVC, or EdNet, classes. This presentation will focus on what any Utah high school can do if it would like to participate in Snow’s broadcast classes. We will discuss:
• particulars of the legislation and program,
• what classes are available in fall 2015 and spring 2016,
• what equipment is required at the high school,
• how schools can decide which classes to offer its students
o scheduling classes with a block schedule,
o strategic planning for students’ educational goals,
o IVC science classes available with labs,
o Courses available only for students completing a General Education Certificate of Completion or an Associate’s Degree,
• what schools need to do to participate in classes,
• how students apply to Snow College for concurrent enrollment,
• concurrent enrollment academic advising,
• IVC best practices.
Schools which already participate in Snow’s IVC program will learn ways to improve their offerings to students and make the best use of their IVC classrooms and resources.
